Common questions
How do I back up my data?
Use Placefolio’s export/backup feature to create a ZIP backup, then store it wherever you prefer (Google Drive, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, NAS, etc.). On Android, you can link your Google account so Placefolio automatically uploads new backups to a Drive folder you choose. On iOS, you can use iCloud backup. Placefolio does not operate a cloud service.
Is my data sent to the cloud?
No. Placefolio is offline-first. Your inventory stays on your device unless you decide to enable Google Drive backup (Android) or iCloud backup (iOS). See the full details on our Privacy Policy.
How does Android/iOS ↔ Windows sync work?
Sync is optional and runs on your local network (LAN/Wi‑Fi). It’s intended for private, in-home use and can be encrypted in transit.
What if I lose my phone?
Restore from a backup you created. Because Placefolio doesn’t use cloud accounts by default, backups are your safety net; you can opt into Google Drive backups on Android or iCloud backups on iOS for added redundancy.
How do I print QR labels?
You can print your own labels, or buy pre-printed packs from the Shop. Placefolio works with standard QR label workflows.
What’s included in free vs paid?
The mobile free tier includes core features with a limit of 25 boxes. Paid unlocks remove box limits. Support for optional automatic Google Drive backups (Android) and iCloud backups (iOS) is available across both tiers. See Pricing for details.
Can I use Placefolio for business inventory?
Yes, but Placefolio is designed primarily for personal and household storage.
How do I delete my data?
You can remove data from within the app, and uninstalling Placefolio deletes local app data from your device.
